Cindy, LPC, CST

Francis Shaeffer coined the term, "glorious ruin," when describing mankind after sin entered the world. We bear the mark of our Creator, but it is inextricably marred by the effects of sin.

I attended Covenant Seminary as a young woman and it left indelible marks on my life. I learned how the Scriptures teach us how the Cross is relevant to people in the midst of pain, trauma, and brokenness. After practicing for 2 years in St. Louis, MO, I relocated to Alabama where I transitioned to private practice. Most recently I have obtained board certification in Christian Sex Therapy through the Institute for Sexual Wholeness.

My experience and training enables me to center in on the core of my clients' struggles without overlooking their pace. What this means for you is that I am fully focused on who you are first. My approach treats the heart, soul, and mind, while communicating deep honor and respect to my clients. It is rooted in Scripture and informed by research. I want to help you find the sources of your problems and learn new ways to live in the freedom that Christ promises us. I believe that there is tremendous strength when a person is able to tell their story in a way that is dignified and honorable, and I am committed to guiding people toward this goal and helping them find the freedoms that follow.

Alicia, LMFT

Hello! My name is Alicia and I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in the states of Alabama, and Virginia. I am an AAMFT approved supervisor for pre-licensed therapists. I am an expert on relationships, pre-marital, and marriages. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy which will help your mind and body heal from psychological trauma (sexual, physical, verbal, PTSD, and depression). Sam, LMFT

Hey! My name is Sam and I am an Associate Marriage & Family Therapist with HPC. I graduated from Harding University in 2016 with a Bachelor's in Bible & Family Ministry and in 2018 with my Master's in Marriage & Family Therapy. I am currently pursuing my doctorate in Marriage & Family Therapy with Amridge University where I teach as well.

I have extensive experience working with children and families from my time working in a daycare setting, in children's ministry, and most recently as a children's therapist for a sexual assault, human trafficking, and domestic violence agency. I enjoy coming alongside families and individuals as they seek personal growth.

Hi there! I'm Grace, a Marriage and Family Therapy intern working under Alicia Owens, LMFT. I love working with couples, families, and individuals to help cultivate healthier, more fulfilling connections and systems. If you are struggling to navigate sexual issues, LGBTQ-related issues, or tension and stress within your relationship, I want to help.

When I'm not studying and seeing clients, I love teaching and practicing aerial yoga, writing Notes app poetry, and whispering sweet nothings to my windowsill full of plants.

Bree, Intern

Hi! My name is Bree and I am currently in my Master's Progam at University of West Alabama. I am a counseling intern under the supervision of Alicia Owens at HPC. I enjoy working with children, adolescents, and adults. I believe that every person should feel heard, no matter how big or small. My goal is to create a safe space where everyone feels they can be their true self. I have experience working with children with autism and behavior issues. I feel it is important to provide support to every individual as they seek personal growth.

For my free time, I like to be outside hunting, fishing, or playing with my dogs. I also like to unwind by watching a good tv series.

Brad, Pastoral and Grief Counseling

Hi, my name is Brad and I am a pastoral counselor at HPC. I am a seminary-trained minister who has spent his full-time career in chaplaincy (19 years). I hold a Master of Divinity Degree from Covenant Theological Seminary (2005) and am ordained in the PCA as a teaching elder. I am board certified (BCC) with the Association of Certified Christian Chaplains (ACCC) and I am certified in thanatology: death, dying, and grief.

I can lead you through your struggles in a way that is consistent with your biblical Christian faith without being pushy, judgmental, or proselytizing.

As a minister, I can lead you through your goals in a manner consistent with Scripture. As a chaplain, I am trained to work with individuals of all faiths (and none). We will follow your goals for the counseling relationship. My areas of expertise are struggles relating to relationships, life transitions, anxiety, depression, end-of-life, grief, and spirituality. In my free time, my wife Cindy and I hike and download life. I am always open for a visit with anyone owning a golden retriever as they are one of God's greatest blessings!

Amy, Billing

Hi, my name is Amy and I’m a licensed professional counselor and billing consultant. I graduated from Jacksonville State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology followed by a Master’s Degree in Community/Agency Counseling from Auburn University. I have 20 years of counseling experience working with children, teens and women. While taking a hiatus from counseling I began doing billing and insurance for my colleagues and discovered a new career path I had not considered before. I enjoy “cleaning up” claims by hunting down what went wrong and fixing it. I’m happy to take the burden of billing and insurance off the therapists' to do list so she or he can focus on helping others.

Hi my name is Michael and I am the owner of HPC. I graduated from Liberty University with a Master's in Business Administration. I am a military veteran with a combined nine years with the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force as both enlisted and officer with three special operation deployments with the 75th Ranger Regiment. I have my Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) Level III certification in contracts, and supported government agencies with strategic interest as a civil servant. I am a trained business development analyst, and can quantify and qualify data for the purpose of creating actionable intelligence.
